I had a somewhat eventful weekend. Turns out we bought the Lancer and the Chazza is still in the garage for repairs. I managed to break the cam shaft and head gasket somehow so the repair bill on that is going to be hefty, but worth it because it'll run like a new car once it's fixed. We're hoping to sell it for around 4 grand. The Lancer is alright, I've yet to drive anyone in it as it's unnamed, and well, you just don't do things like that without names. The sound system in it is stock, so I'll be saving for a new one of those amongst car repayments/insurance/repairs.
I scored the job at 1st Choice in the end, I got a phone call last Sunday asking if I wanted a job in another area of the store so I had my first shift on Saturday. It's a fairly relaxed work environment and the people seem pretty friendly. The pay is almost $19/hr so I am cheering! I work there 10 hours a week, but still nearly $200 before tax (oh tax..
). At the moment I'm paying a huge amount in tax because I'm still keeping my Brodies job, until financial year at least then I'll reconsider my options.
Saturday night I had the Lamb of God concert and it was pretty intense. I haven't heard much of their material so it was pretty much a random concert, but it was well worth the $45~. The mosh was probably the craziest I've ever seen but it was alot of fun. Highlights were Walk With Me in Hell and Now You've Got Something to Die For. When the concert finished everyone piled out onto Brunswick Street effectively closing it off which called the cops to come on down and flash some sirens. What happened next was awesome, instead of all the metalheads moving, they swarmed the car and starting chanting 'Lamb of God' over and over. Such a surreal thing to see, especially in Brisbane.
Last night I went to Sizzler with Kyle, Benji, Cam, Kiren and Nesh. It was pretty fun, alot of random jokes and humour here and there. We managed to steal a dessert bowl with Nesh wearing it as a Jewish cap on his head as he walked out, while I managed to snag a supply of jellybeans for the adventure ahead. Originally we were going to see a movie for free courtesy of Nesh, but in the end we decided to go to Slaughter Falls to conquer it.
Nesh brought along a mate, Phil, and off we went. For once there was a few people hanging around there, mainly just smoking up and getting high, but it was good to see some form of life around. We wandered up the deserted road and eventually got to the trail and we headed towards the JC Slaughter Falls walk which was 600 odd meters. After passing a number of 'interesting' Aboriginal artworks and avoiding Benji's bombs, we missed the turn to the actual Falls and instead walked a big circle around the mountain and back to where we started. Doh, easy way to kill an hour. Definitely would of loved to have seen the looks on the stoner's faces when we walked down the road acting like zombies from Shaun of the Dead ![]()
And that brings me to now. 8.52am and I'm meant to be walking across George Street normally on a Monday morning, but instead I'm feeling a bit shoddy from dripping in sweat Saturday night and walking around a bush track at 10.30 last night so I skipped the first half of my lecture this morning. I really couldn't be fucked going at all today, but I need to as a group assignment is being released in t-minus 2 hours and 7 minutes and I don't want to be stuck with dipshits.

The Day I Dumped the Beast

Today is only half over but I've already had a somewhat eventful Anzac Day. It all started with a coast trip. Being a public holiday Kyle and Yeatsie could come and Benji managed to dodge work as well. I woke up at about 6 to blood on my sheets, my finger that I sliced open at work must of hit something in the night and caused it to spew blood everywhere. I put those in the sink and washed them and totally forget about that time so I ended up racing to Benji's at about 6.45am.
As I didn't have credit I just sorta had to use the Chazza's power to wake/alert him that I was there, 6.55 rolled around and I was nearly ready to piss off home but the garage door opened so Benji joined the journey. Next stop was Yeatsie and he bailed due to a night out beforehand. I doublebacked and got Kyle then we were on our way.
We had a semi-traditional Maccas stop where Benji bought the new Ralph and then we continued down to the beach. The waves were small, definitely alot smaller then we were used to, but there was some (ie. not many) good ones to catch. Random babbling in the surf ensued before we decided to leave at about 9ish.
Here's where I went wrong, I put the doomed Fingal CD mix into the car and headed off towards Brisbane. The first sign of danger was the Gold Coast Highway closed off leaving me to do a detour to get to Smith Street. Surprisingly I think it was a tad bit shorter so I might look into this route more often. We were having a great time singing tunes and cruising up the M1 when the beast broke up with me. It just cut out, and being in the right hand lane, it was a disaster. I couldn't get it across so I just had to ditch it into the right hand shoulder.
Cursing and pissed off I popped the bonnet and checked out her insides utilising all my mechanical knowledge. The oil, water, power steering, radiator fluids were all full and there was plenty of fuel in her. I checked underneath and she was bleeding oil pretty badly though. Nevertheless I tried to restart her but to no avail, she was dead!
This led to the RACQ coming and calling a towie to tow us to the nearest service centre, which for us was 1 minute for Dreamworld's BP Service Station. We organised Danman to pick us up so to fill in all this time we started organise Benji's Ralph cards in order of hotness. There's a few moles in the deck, but other then that it's not that bad! The RACQ guy came and told us the chazza has lost compression in the engine which is a kick to the balls. After he left we tucked into some Nandos and then trudged back to the car to listen to some tunes and continue organising the deck.
After heading to Surfer's Paradise and then realising we weren't that far down the coast, Danman arrived and we piled in and headed home. The chazza is still at the Coomera service centre and probably will be till tomorrow or the next day until we figure out what to do with it.
On getting home I was in shitty spirits, stupid car breaking down sucks ass but my parents seem pretty keen on getting a new one ASAP so Dad and I went along the Magic Mile looking for new cars. I found a 2002 Lancer CE GLi that we are going to take for a test drive tomorrow. It's red and somewhat cool, but I'll be able to say more after I drive it I guess.
I guess that marks the era of the chazza, Rest in Peace beast ![]()

Today was the boys annual Anzac Test outing, traditionally the group is myself, Benji, Cameron, Adam and Kyle, but as Kyle had to go to Harvey Bay for work Yank was our new recruit to the tradition. The night started early at about 2.30pm when Yank picked us all up and drove to 8 Mile Plains bus station so we could catch a bus to the city.
The plan was to grab a mean steak then wander over to the stadium, but as it turned out Adam and myself were the only ones real keen on steak so we bailed from that idea and instead hit up the casino. I think most of us wish we didn't! We all decided to gamble a little, mainly on blackjack and sometimes the big wheel, but either we all lost out, except for Cameron. He managed to walk out $80 ahead I think in the end, while Yank managed to lose a further $140 making a total loss of $300 for the week at the casino. Benji walked away $55 behind, and Adam did a little better with only $5 behind his starting pot and I lost $30.
All feeling a little stupid at ourselves (at one stage I had $70, Adam had $160, Benji had $80~ and Yank had $120~), we decided to leave and head on over to the footy. We stopped at subway on the way, and as Yank now has a total of $8 to his name, I was a good bloke and shouted him dinner. He was looking hungry and noone else would shout him despite us jeering Cameron too considering he was cashed up thanks to the casino. Heh, should be good karma! Wandering to the stadium was fairly uneventful, except for the Asian lady and Scottish man telling us to be patriotic and buy an Australian flag... weird.
While we were walking, Yank got a phone call from his Dad telling him that he managed to get two tickets to the corporate box with free booze. We needed a plan to get Yank in there, but him home and still at work in the morning. I suggested I stay sober, drive his car and drop everyone home and then take him to his girlfriends and then she drop me home. It was a good plan so Yank made the calls. In the end the plan was I just drive everyone to where they need to be and then Yank will pick his car up from mine in the morning. Anyway, that resulted in Cameron and Yank going to the coporate box leaving me, Adam and Benji in our seats (where was the karma!). It was great though, we always manage to get the same section each year we've been.
The Aussie's came through with a victory, 30 - 6 and we sent the Kiwi's home with their tails between their legs. The match was uneventful really, the crowd atmosphere was pretty bland until the second half when a few half arsed mexican waves were started and bit of yelling and jeering started to happen. At fulltime, we meet up with Cameron and Yank from their corporate box who were both fairly trashed and headed on the bus home.
Adam left at South Bank so he could get his train home and the rest of us carried on to 8 Mile Plains where I was about to tackle Yank's car. It's a pretty easy drive, bit sticky to first, but other then that, goes really nice! Random singing on the way home, drunken yells to strangers and Cameron being a douche and walking down random streets entertained us on the drive home which was good fun
So that's about it, I'm at home, Yank's at his girlfriends, and I've got his car. I guess you could say that karma worked it's magic for me (until tomorrow when I get home from an exam and it's gone).
